Spaceballs - It's All About the Merchandising

Rumor has it that George Lucas allowed Mel Brooks to make Spaceballs as long as it wasn't merchandised.

Well, someone on Etsy finally made the toys we've been dreaming about.

These are 5-6 inch resin cast figures.

Here's how they stack up with their Black Series counterparts.

Pride Displays Star Wars Action Figure Display Diorama

I think this was released around 2005. Not sure how I came across it but added it to the collection. Great display piece though somewhat large.

It is a great homage to the vintage Kenner toys. The background can be flipped around for two different backgrounds. Plenty of space to display your figures.

Rumor had it they were working on a Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi display as well but probably didn't sell enough.

The J Files

The truth is out there!

Probably in a Sandcrawler!

Hasbro Labs Announces 4 Foot Jabba's Sail Barge - Kickstarter Like Campaign

As a business owner, there is always a fine line between what the fans want, and how many will actually pay for it, especially if it is big.

Take for example the ridiculous price on the Hasbro Star Wars AT-AT from Rogue One, the Millenium Falcon from Force Awakens, etc. etc.

For years, fans have been asking for a Jabba's Sail Barge - well, Hasbro has delivered - sort of.

If you want it, you have to make a pre-order pledge for it.

Hasbro Lab 4 Foot Jabba's Sail Barge

If Hasbro receives 5000 pre-orders, they'll make it. It's huge. It will come in vintage packaging. Within 48 hours, there are 1122 orders. Will be interesting to see how this shakes out.

Now is the time for fans to put their money where their mouth is.

Kickstarter - Marauder Task Force - World War II 1:18 Figures

If you collect 1:18 military figures, you need to get in on this Kickstarter. Marauder has already had several successful 1:18 figure campaigns successfully launched.  This one goes all out with figures from the US (Pacific and ETO), Japan, Brits, Germans and Russians.

The campaign funded within 24 hours for the first few figures and 72 hours later is already unlocked several stretch goals.

This is going to be a fun ride. I am really happy with the Brits and glad to see some Russian troops. The campaign is about 100K away from the Brits, but plenty of US and Germans before we get there.

Check it out and contribute to the cause.

Nylint ABC Wide World of Sports 1980 Winter Olympics Truck

I received this toy for Christmas of 1980 or 1981. I loved it. Wasn't expecting it.  I don't remember having the figures and little camera cart. They are hard to find. Have never seen it for sale online in its box. That is one grail I would like to get my hands on someday.

Anyway - with the Winter Olympics going on, it reminded me of this toy.
